What is being a student about? As a student of a large University such as USC, I have realized that there is more to life than obtaining a 4 year degree and finishing school. We work in our lives day to day hoping to just survive and pass our next midterms but we always forget the most important thing in life. We ought to change the world each day and strive to work in the best possible way to bring quality and compassion into the people around us. A student should mean being educated and being more sophisticated right? But in actuality, you’re learning to become institutionalized into the thinking of being subservient and passive in your thinking. Independent thought and intellectual wellbeing should be the goal of any individual and questions should be 20 chapters thick. Don’t be the countless of millions of students who traverse the intellectual steamboat to go back to a more normal typical lifestyle. You should become a mentor, educate others, and contribute back to society.
What are Friends? What happens when you need to call on friends and they don’t show? What happens when you get a flat tire and you need to ask for help? People think they have a lot of friends but who are your TRUE friends? The power of friendship can be overlooked many times throughout the life of a friendship but how strong is that connection? Who cares if you live a long life and get paid 6 figures a year with benefits? Is it worth living knowing that the people around you are living a more destitute life while you sip your wine glass in a house of cards? Friends are there whenever you call them, friends ask you how your day went and why you’re feeling like a box of sadness. They shape your life forever.
What is in a dream? What is your goal? You should know this the second someone asks you this question. It should be so open ended that nobody can tell what it is. If you plan your life out too strictly, you constrain yourself to that only possibility where life can have had other plans for you. Having the ability to change with the direction of wind is a marvelous gift anybody in your shoes can do. Don’t restrict yourself and limit yourself to being mediocre. You should be that person with a dream and reach it. Don’t let a dream die or a part of you will die with it. People with dreams should work hard and actually try to get them to the playing field and see how it plays out. Having a partner that shares your dream is a person who is your supporter, your provider, and your whole being. Never let go of that person and keep those dreams alive.
What is risk? Risk – “noun 1. The possibility of suffering harm or loss; danger”. The official Webster definition should change to “The everyday decision where harm or loss is up to the individual”. Having the ability to take your life into your own hands is a major risk everyone in the world deals with. It is sad to think others in the world such as you and me reading this article are one of the lucky ones. What if you had only 1 week to live and never experienced the things you wish you could’ve done when you had MORE time. Put that remote control down, walk outside, look at the sky and just make a mental note about your sense of being. Risk is a state of mind and the only risk people worry about is the risk of how much money they will lose when they place a bet on blackjack but I’m not talking about financial risk, I’m talking about personal risk. Can you break out of the mold and be unique and satisfying? I’m not saying to be in the left field but more towards an elevated place in the middle. Different from the general pack with the ability to move things towards the greater good, it’s only scary because it’s different. Don’t be afraid to be different, leaders don’t become great by becoming non-risk takers.
One of my good friends back in high school Jon (aka cheeho) came back from Taiwan today and we got some food to eat in San Gabriel at a Chinese restaurant. The food was delicious but my stomach was flipping out of control later that night. I had to drive to Irvine last night to drop off jon and we got stuck on the 110 freeway for 20 minutes. If anyone knows jon, being stuck with him is probably the most hilarious soapbox because of his random ass stories about his days in Taiwan and China. I’ll probably be going with him next summer but who knows, things change greatly within 1 year. I’ve had a ton of birthday parties to attend this last week including Nancy’s and Edwin’s birthday. Honestly, the September and October months are the busiest for me including the most dangerous to my bank account. It was kind of sad today that I had to liquidate some stocks and options I’ve had for a couple of months but the returns were very good since the dow jones industrial average rose above 11,000 points when I purchased it back in the 10200 range. Apple stock was purchased at the $52 dollar price range and it sold for $73 recently so I’m very satisfied. I’m still sad about the tuition price of USC but those school loans are not going to be a problem until I start working in about two years from now.
Goals for the next month:
Go Skydiving
Learn a new sport
Lose 10 pounds from now until Christmas
Save money for my winter trip
Watch for skydiving updates this saturday. I'll be going with Jon, Mike and Nancy. Pictures and videos coming soon!

Rancho Cucamonga is a very new, suburban and beautiful city, with a bad reputation only because it happens to be in the infamous 909. It is nestled at the foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains about an hour Southeast of LA. Many people that live here are white, have lots of money, and have children that spend it all. You can't get any home here for under $800,000. It's a great place to raise a family, seeing as everything worth visiting in Southern California is within about an hour or two and there are plenty of schools, parks (a new central park that should be in Beverly Hills), every single store you can think of and plenty of restaurants. The doctor for the WWF lives here, and Snoop Dogg lives about 10 minutes away. There is a huge mall that just got built in Rancho located on the East Side (Etiwanda) that everyone calls the VG. If you have a nice car, (ie. Porsche, Ferarri etc.) you will probably drive it through this mall to show it off. Going to the mall is pretty much all the high school students have to do, other than partying, drinking, working on their cars, going to In-n-Out, Starbucks or shopping. Rancho is also full of Bro's with lifted trucks, Emo kids, plenty of really made up high school girls with Dior sunglasses and fake LV's, (especially ones that go to the three high school crammed within 5 miles of each other), Punkers, White trash that drive Hummers and Abercrombie and Hollister kids. If you don't drive a Mercedes or a BMW, know what Harvard on the Hill is, know what you do at the top of Haven, have gotten a ticket for jay-walking or have partied at the Haven Estates, you don't belong in Rancho. Sorry.
1: Where are you from?
2: Rancho Cucamonga
1: Isn't that the city from Next Friday and Bring it on?
2: Yes, and it is a real place!
Tonight is the night where USC is predicted to win a 31 & 14 victory over Nebraska. Lets hope they win! My playstation said so. jk lol

I was driving on the 10 freeway west bound towards LA in the city of Alhambra. I was off the Atlantic/Garfield exit and there was heavy traffic because of a bad crash that happened 5 minutes before I got there. My accident happened while I was in the fast lane and this milk truck ran into me with his monster ass bumper tearing off my tire off the rim, killing my bumper, killing my lights, destroying my muffler and just pushing me forward about 15 feet. The milk truck was okay and thank god its wonder tonic was not damaged. Think of the children who would've grown up without a cup of wonderful milk. During this whole time, I was traveling 5mph trying to drive past the current accident scene until I had to stop to allow a merging vehicle in front of me, then he hit. The sound of brakes and tires overtaking friction hitting my truck. sigh.... The emergency people already at the other accident scene shook their heads and ran to my truck to help me and the truck driver out. Firefighters and EMT are like "ARE YOU ALL RIGHT SIR? DO YOU NEED MEDICAL ASSISTANCE?". At this point I jump out of my truck in the freeway yelling "@%#%@*)(!@ all the words" and i'm ranting in the diamond lane. After venting for a couple of seconds I signal to the truck driver who is still in the ass of my truck to get over to the other accident scene to help society out with their traffic woes and improve congestion. We pull over and a CHP officer came and it was my friend Officer Kelly. He recognizes me and askes how in the world we meet again. He was just laughing at me the whole time asking how Mike's girlfriend was in her accident case (which happened 3 weeks ago, in the same location on the east bound lane though). He still remembered me from that time we met so I am lucky I have him on my side in writing the report of the accident. I'll probably have head injuries and neck problems later but my whole side of the truck is trashed. Tire blew up when i drove off to the side and i had to replace it with the full spare. The truck rides fine but its not the same. Its like someone took a bat and did some remodeling. The other milk truck came out fine, the cal trans people got a crowbar and fixed his bumper like it was brand new. My truck however lost the bumper, tailight, mudflap, muffler tip, tire rim, my new tires, and my side rail.
At least the officer told me in secret that it was not my fault and it was the other guys fault. I am never driving in any asian town ever again. They all fucking suck.
(09-05) 22:06 PDT Los Angeles (AP) --A San Diego man was so upset that USC did not admit him as a student that he hacked into the school's application system and stole other would-be students' personal information, he admitted in court Tuesday.
Eric McCarty, 24, pleaded guilty to a felony count of accessing a protected computer without authorization and was scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 4. Under terms of a plea bargain with prosecutors, he is expected to receive six months of home detention and pay nearly $37,000 in restitution.
In June 2005, McCarty accessed Social Security numbers, names, addresses, dates of birth and applicants' passwords to the USC site, according to the government. Federal investigators found information on seven different people on McCarty's home computer, which they seized.
After the break-in, McCarty created a new e-mail account using the sign-on "ihackedusc. Prosecutors said he used that account to send messages explaining what he had done to a reporter at the Web site securityfocus.com. The reporter contacted university officials.
Authorities said McCarty also boasted and joked about his accomplishment on his blog.
Among the messages found on his blog: "USC Got Hacked" and "so all the hot USC girls, I got your phone number, ladies."
Honestly, why would you brag? If you were that smart to bypass the security and get information about others you should've known that it would be traced back to you.
I had a very enjoyable 3 day weekend this week and I wish it was longer. However, good things never last and I have a full workload in school starting Tuesday. During Labor day weekend, I had my sisters birthday party at my parents house and probably gained a pound or two from the heavy drinking and enormous amounts of food and bbq. After Saturday, I had a chance to go shopping for some clothes and its surprising how many kids are at Victoria Gardens during school hours. Got some sneakers and some shoes for shorts but I couldn’t find some damn slippers. @#%#. After staying at my parents for two nights it was time to leave and head back to LA.
As I am writing this post, I am in my morning class and the girl next to me is making strange noises. She sounds hungry but is trying to play it off like its someone else. Her stomach is LOUD. You can hear her stomach yelling in about a 4 row radius. Its embarrassing. hahaha
